Deja view for 2011's top domestic films
2011 was the first year that the top seven domestic grossing films were franchise installments, from the "Harry Potter" finale and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" through "Fast Five" and "Cars 2." Of the year's top 10, six films unspooled in 3D -- a format that saw mixed results in 2011. Still, 3D saw more commercial releases last year, with 36, than in any other year (2010 bowed 22 3D titles). In 2012, 37 3D films are slated for release (or re-release).
